This Privacy Policy explains how Memento (“the app”, “we”) handles information related to you when you use the app. If you do not agree with this policy, please stop using the app.

1. Who we are

Memento is a photo-based “memory review & tidy-up” tool built on the iOS Photos library. It helps you rediscover moments through Random Recall and location-based memories, and lets you favorite, mark for deletion, and manage a trash flow.

Our privacy commitment (privacy-first)

  • Data minimization: we only process information necessary to deliver core features and do not require identity information such as your name or phone number.
  • On-device by default: your photos/videos and most processing results are handled on your device.
  • No selling of personal information: we do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
  • Clear controls: you can adjust or revoke Photos permissions at any time in iOS Settings; uninstalling the app typically removes local cached data.

2. Information we process

2.1 Photos library information you authorize

After you grant iOS Photos permission, we may read and process information on your device to display and organize your photos/videos and provide memory review features, including:

  • Media content: photos, videos, Live Photos (for viewing and browsing).
  • Media metadata: information associated with items in your Photos library (used for selection, sorting, progress, and feature logic).
  • Media location (if available): latitude/longitude for location-based grouping and display.

Important:

  • We do not delete items from your Photos library without your explicit action and confirmation (for example, confirming an empty-trash action).
  • You can revoke Photos permission in iOS Settings at any time. Without permission, the app cannot provide its core photo-based features.

2.2 Subscription and purchase information

If you subscribe to or purchase PRO:

  • Payments and subscription management are handled by Apple App Store. We do not receive your payment card or billing details.
  • We receive transaction results and entitlement status via StoreKit to unlock or restore PRO access.

3. How we use information

We process information only as necessary to:

  • Provide core features such as Random Recall, location-based memories, review browsing, and trash management.
  • Generate location groupings (for items with coordinates) and improve the experience through caching where appropriate.
  • Sync actions you take in the app (such as favoriting, deleting) with your Photos library as you confirm them.
  • Improve stability and compatibility (for example, basic troubleshooting and performance optimizations).
  • Provide subscription services (show products, unlock/restore PRO access).

4. Sharing, transfer, or public disclosure

We do not share your photo/video content with third parties or upload it to our servers, except in the following cases:

  • When required by applicable laws or valid legal process.
  • With your explicit consent.

We do not use your information for purposes unrelated to delivering core app functionality (for example, marketing or ad targeting) without your explicit consent.

5. Your choices and controls

  • System permissions: manage Photos access in iOS Settings (including Limited Photos Access).
  • Delete content: deletions you confirm in the app may delete items from your iOS Photos library; please confirm carefully. Deleted items may not be recoverable depending on iOS Photos and your backups.
  • Clear local data: uninstalling the app typically removes the app’s local database and cache.

6. Retention

Any cached media metadata or location grouping data stored on your device is generally updated or cleared in scenarios such as:

  • When you delete or change items in your Photos library and the app syncs and cleans up outdated records.
  • When you uninstall the app (local data is typically removed by iOS).

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including:

  • Relying on iOS permissions to control Photos access and reading data only after you authorize it.
  • Storing necessary cache data inside the iOS app sandbox to reduce unnecessary exposure.
  • Limiting functionality when you revoke permission and relying on iOS to remove local data on uninstall.

However, no system can guarantee absolute security.

8. Policy updates

We may update this policy from time to time. We will present the updated policy in an appropriate place. If you continue using the app after an update, you are deemed to have accepted the updated policy.

9. Contact us

If you have any questions, feedback, or complaints about this policy, contact us at memento_ai@outlook.com.
